Wai-o-Tapu Geothermal Wonderland is a geothermal park near Rotorua. You can walk along the paths and see steaming vents, boiling mud pools, and vividly coloured mineral pools, like the famous Champagne Pool. The colours are really striking and make for great photos.

The geothermal activity gives the whole place a strong sulfur smell, so be ready for that because it can be really sharp.

The park is easy to explore on foot and well signposted, so you don't need a guide. It gets busy in summer, so I recommend getting there early.
