Rotorua is a city known for its strong Māori culture and history. Many local iwi (tribes) live here, and you can see their traditions in art, carvings, performances, and cultural experiences. The city is full of marae, or Māori meeting grounds, and some offer tours where you can learn about Māori stories, songs, and customs.

Visiting Rotorua is a chance to connect with this culture while enjoying the geothermal wonders around the city. You can see geysers, hot springs, and mud pools, but the Māori heritage gives the area a deeper meaning, as many of these sites are considered sacred.
