The Kawarau Gorge Suspension Bridge is just outside of Queenstown, around a 20min drive. This is the birthplace of commercial bungy jumping. You can still watch brave souls take the leap from the original platform high above the turquoise Kawarau River. If you're an adrenaline junkie, I definitely recommend working up the courage to try the 43 meters bungy yourself !

If jumping isn’t on your list, it’s worth stopping to walk across the bridge and take in the view of the gorge below. The area has a small café and viewing deck, so you can grab a coffee and enjoy the atmosphere while cheering on the jumpers. Plan about half an hour to an hour here, depending on whether you’re watching or jumping.
