If you’re driving between Queenstown and Wanaka, Lindis Pass is a great spot to stretch your legs and take in some classic New Zealand high-country scenery.

There’s a handy carpark right by the main lookout, so you can easily pull over for a quick break or a few photos. The area is pretty exposed, so it can get windy, but that just adds to the wild, open feel of the place.

If you’re up for a short walk, there are a couple of trails nearby that let you explore the tussock grasslands and spot some local wildlife. Just keep in mind the weather can change fast here, so bring a jacket and wear good shoes if you decide to explore.
