When visiting Kaikōura, I strongly recommend walking along the beach that is opposite of the Whale Watch Center. You'll have the opportunity to enjoy a magnificent view of the mountains plunging into a turquoise ocean. Make sure to bring binoculars, as dolphins and even whales regularly jump out of the water.
