This DoC viewing platform overlooks Lake Manapōuri, often called Spirit Lake because of its calm and moody atmosphere. You reach it by walking the first easy section of the Kepler Track, one of New Zealand’s Great Walks, so the trail is well marked and easy to follow. It is only a short walk from the car park and the view is worth every step, with deep blue water framed by rugged Fiordland mountains. On a still day the reflections are perfect, so make sure to bring your camera!
