Glentanner Lookout is one of those quick stops that pays off with big views. It sits just off the road on the way to Aoraki/Mount Cook, so it’s easy to pull over for a short break and take in the scenery. From here you’ll see Lake Pukaki stretching out in front of you with the Southern Alps in the distance, and on a clear day Aoraki/Mount Cook looks especially striking. You don’t need more than 10 or 15 minutes here, but it’s worth having your camera ready since the combination of turquoise water and snowcapped peaks is about as classic New Zealand as it gets.
