Serene nature campsite in New Zealand

Campsite

Cascade Creek Campsite is a classic Fiordland stop if you want to camp close to nature on the road to Milford Sound. It sits in a wide grassy clearing surrounded by mountains and beech forest and you can hear the creek nearby which makes it a peaceful place to spend the night. The facilities are basic like most DOC campsites but there is plenty of space and it feels wild without being too remote. Sandflies can be pretty fierce here so bring repellent and long sleeves. On a clear night the stars are amazing since there is almost no light around.
