The Tasman Glacier View walk is short and easy, yet it rewards you with one of the best perspectives in Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park. The trail winds gently uphill for about 15 minutes before opening up to a lookout over the Tasman Glacier, New Zealand’s longest. You’ll see the glacier lake below, often dotted with icebergs, with the Southern Alps rising behind it. Plan around 30 to 45 minutes for the walk and time at the top, and bring a jacket since the wind can pick up quickly. The late afternoon light often gives the ice and rocks a beautiful glow, so if you’re into photography it’s worth timing your visit for then.
