Moeraki Boulders Beach is famous for its large, round boulders scattered along the sand, and it’s easy to see why people love stopping here. According to Māori legend, the boulders are the remains of eel baskets, kūmara, and food washed ashore from the canoe of the ancestor Māui. Walking among the boulders is fun and a little magical, and the waves and cliffs in the background make it a great spot for photos. You can spend a short time exploring the beach, learning a bit about the story behind the rocks, and enjoying the unique landscape.
