The Waitangi Treaty Grounds is one of the most important places in New Zealand. This is where the Treaty of Waitangi was first signed in 1840 between Māori chiefs and the British Crown. The place is full of history and culture. The guided tour is really worth it because it explains the meaning of the treaty and how it still shapes New Zealand today. You also get to visit a beautiful carved marae and see traditional Māori performances.
