The only bakery on earth with official Ghibli permission to make Totoro-shaped cream puffs. Run by Hayao Miyazaki’s sister-in-law. Go early — they’re made fresh in the morning and flavors sell out fast.

2. Kichijoji Petit Mura (吉祥寺プティムラ)

Storybook corner

A tiny fairytale village tucked off the street — crooked storybook buildings, a cat café, and details that feel lifted straight out of a Ghibli film. The most photogenic little pocket in Kichijoji.

3. Corn Barley (コーンバーレー)

Lunch · reserve ahead

A Ghibli-lover’s dream where every dish is from a different film — Kiki’s casserole, Calcifer’s bacon & eggs, Sheeta’s stew, and a build-your-own soot sprite dessert. ¥5000pp, meals made for two. Reservations required for the 7 course in the secret room (needs a Japanese phone number).

4. Inokashira Park (井の頭恩賜公園)

Afternoon · fresh air

The green heart of Kichijoji and the park that inspired the Ghibli Museum’s setting. Rent a swan boat on the pond, wander the tree-lined paths, and slow right down. Pure Ghibli calm.

5. Straw Hat Café (麦わらぼうし)

Cozy finish

A warm, wooden little café to end the day — the kind of quiet, cozy corner a Ghibli character would duck into out of the rain. Sweet treats, soft light, and a gentle place to rest your feet.
