Welcome to the famous "Hells of Beppu," a collection of spectacular geothermal springs that are truly a sight to behold. You'll wander through a landscape where ponds boil with vibrant, otherworldly colors, from the stunning cobalt blue of Umi Jigoku ("Sea Hell") to the vivid red of Chinoike Jigoku ("Blood Pond Hell"). While these waters are for viewing only, you can enjoy a relaxing footbath in the naturally warm spring water and even try delicious snacks like eggs and pudding, uniquely cooked in the hot steam. A tour of all seven hells takes about two to three hours to complete.
