The Clérigos Church and Tower in Porto, Portugal stands as a Baroque and Roman Baroque influenced structure, with its 75 meter tall bell tower serving as a beloved symbol for the city for centuries. The majestic spire, built between 1754-1763 by Italian architect and painter Nicolau Nasoni, can be seen from points across the city and is well known throughout Portugal. The church is particularly noted its polychromed marble altarpiece, which was crafted by Manuel dos Santos Porto. Tourists today flock to the site, located in the heart of downtown Porto, to marvel at the architectural genius of centuries past.
