The Custom House in Shanghai is an iconic eight-story building on the Bund, built in 1927 and still functioning as a customs house today. Together with the neighboring HSBC Building, it's considered a symbol of Shanghai. Originally set up in the late 17th century to facilitate sea trade, the Custom House has a rich history intertwined with Shanghai's development as a major trading hub. With its impressive clock tower and Neo-Classical design, it stands tall as a reminder of the city's past and present significance in global commerce.
