Schloss Lichtenstein is a stunningly beautiful Gothic-Revival castle located in southern Germany. It was designed by the renowned Carl Alexander Heideloff, and inspired by Wilhelm Hauff's 1826 romantic novel. This privately owned structure overlooks the Echaz valley near Honau, Reutlingen in the state of Baden-Württemberg and at 817 metres (2,680 feet) above sea-level, is almost 250 metres (820 feet) higher than the nearby Echaz river. After construction began in 1840, the castle was completed in 1842, and King Frederick I of Württemberg was present for its inauguration ceremony. The castle has been lovingly restored over the years, with its antique furnishings and artworks making it a truly majestic place to behold!
