Get ready for one of the most rewarding short climbs on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula! A sturdy metal staircase winds its way right up to the rim of Saxhóll, making it surprisingly easy to stand atop a 3,000-year-old volcanic crater. From the summit, you're treated to an incredible 360-degree panorama of vast lava fields stretching to the Atlantic Ocean, with the mystical Snæfellsjökull glacier in the distance. The whole experience, from the car park to the top and back, takes about 30 minutes, but the windy, wild view will stay with you much longer.
