Just a short detour off the Ring Road, you'll discover the magnificent Kolugljúfur Canyon, a dramatic gorge where the Víðidalsá river tumbles through a series of stunning waterfalls. From the car park, you're immediately greeted by the impressive view, but I recommend taking a walk across the bridge and along the canyon's edge to get closer The paths are easy to follow, allowing you to get different perspectives of the cascading water and the rugged, mossy cliffs. Plan for at least half an hour to soak it all in and parking is free.
