They will show you where is safe and usually explain the politics of the country, and other local insights. We love doing free walking tours when we get to a city. You can find these tours with a quick google search as times and meeting spots change. Your hotel is a great place to ask too. There are usually 2 a day in cities. Make sure to tip your guide!
