Set against a dramatic backdrop of lava fields and the wild coastline of the Snæfellsnes peninsula, you'll find the iconic Búðakirkja. This solitary, pitch-black timber church is one of the most photographed spots in Iceland, and for good reason. Its stark, minimalist beauty creates a powerful, almost surreal atmosphere. Take a short stroll from the car park to wander around the historic graveyard. The nearby golden sands of Búðir beach are just a short walk down the hill, offering a stunning contrast to the dark lava. Free parking and access.
