Just off the Ring Road, you'll find one of Iceland's true wonders, the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon. It is a must on any road trip, and just across the road, you can walk over to Diamond Beach to see smaller, glistening ice chunks washed ashore on the black sand. You do have to pay for parking here, but parking covers both areas. We spent a couple hours here walking around and taking photos. You can book kayak and boat tours in the lagoon.
