Prepare to be captivated by the sheer force of Gullfoss, the 'Golden Falls'. A short, easy walk of about five minutes from the car park brings you to the main viewing platforms, where you can feel the spray on your face as the Hvítá river thunders down two massive tiers into a rugged canyon. For a different perspective, take the stairs down to the lower path to get even closer to the incredible power of the water. On a sunny day, you're almost guaranteed to see a rainbow shimmering in the mist. This is one of the main attractions on the Golden Circle so it does get very busy.
