Welcome to Mývatn, a truly otherworldly area in Iceland. You can spend a full day, or even several, exploring the dramatic contrasts of volcanic lakes, lava formations, Viti Crater and Hverfjall crater. Many of the main sights are just a short walk from designated parking areas. If you have time, this area is definitely worth staying a night. We went to the Myvatn hot springs and they were really nice too.
