The best place in Kyoto to watch the sunset.

BLOOMING WITH CHERRYBLOSSOMS DURING SPRING.

During fall, they do have a light show to brighten the colors of the fall foliage during fall!

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Kiyomizu-dera is a stunning Buddhist temple located in Kyoto, Japan. Nestled on the slopes of the Higashiyama mountains, it offers breathtaking views of the city and surrounding nature. The temple is famous for its wooden stage that juts out over the hillside, providing visitors with an incredible vantage point, especially during cherry blossom season and autumn when the leaves change color.

Originally founded in 778, Kiyomizu-dera has a rich history and is part of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The name "Kiyomizu" means "clear water," which comes from the Otowa Waterfall that runs beneath the main hall. Visitors often drink from the waterfall's streams, believing it brings good fortune and health.

The temple complex is filled with beautiful structures, including the main hall, various shrines, and a pagoda. It's a popular spot for both tourists and locals, who come to admire the architecture, enjoy the serene atmosphere, and participate in traditional rituals. With its blend of natural beauty and cultural significance, Kiyomizu-dera is definitely a highlight for anyone exploring Kyoto.
