The Hachiko Statue is a beloved landmark located near Shibuya Station in Tokyo, Japan. It honors the loyal Akita dog named Hachiko, who became famous for his unwavering devotion to his owner, Hidesaburo Ueno. Every day, Hachiko would wait at the station for Ueno to return from work, and even after Ueno passed away in 1925, Hachiko continued to show up at the station for nearly ten years, waiting for his friend. The statue was erected in 1934 to commemorate this touching story of loyalty and love. Today, it’s a popular meeting spot and a symbol of fidelity, attracting both locals and tourists who often snap photos with the iconic bronze pup.
