An important but friendly reminder

Please remember that the NC500 isn't just a scenic road trip, it's home to many people in the Highlands.

In recent years, the NC500 has seen a rise in careless behaviour, from irresponsible camping practices that are damaging the environment to disrespect for local communities.

If you’re drawn there for the beauty, please help keep it that way.

Be kind to the land and be considerate of those who live there and as always, leave no trace behind, only footprints.

Local residents rely on the same roads and services, so patience and respect go a long way.

We would really encourage supporting local businesses, staying in family-run B&Bs, eating at village pubs, buying from artisans, because tourism sustains these communities.

Remember to take care of the environment as it means protecting not just the scenery but the wildlife and natural habitats that depend on it.

If posting on social media, we would highly recommend encouraging others to travel responsibly too, to inspire others!

Thank you.
