Visitors can choose between a short 5-minute walk from the new parking lot or a 7 km hike to see the waterfall. The hike offers views of smaller waterfalls along the way, making it a nice addition to a Golden Circle tour. While Brúarfoss may not be a must-see for everyone, it's worth a visit if you enjoy waterfalls and have the time to explore.

Geysir

Famous Icelandic geyser with history

Geysir, also known as The Great Geysir, is a famous geyser located in southwestern Iceland. It started forming around 1150 CE and can shoot boiling water up to 60 meters in the air during eruptions. Although its activity has been sporadic over the years, with periods of dormancy and revival due to earthquakes, it remains a popular tourist attraction along with the nearby Strokkur geyser. Geysir was officially protected in 2020 and has an interesting history of ownership by whiskey distillers and film directors. Overall, it's a cool spot to check out if you're ever in Iceland!

Geysir is a great place for a quick snack if you get hungry - however make sure to save room for your highlight meal at Fridheimar!

Gullfoss Waterfall in Iceland is a must-see natural wonder located just 1.5 hours from Reykjavik on the Golden Circle route. What makes Gullfoss unique is that you view it from above, giving the illusion that the waterfall disappears underground. The waterfall is open year-round, but some viewpoints may be inaccessible in winter. Remember to bring spare change for the restroom or head inside the visitor center for a free bathroom break. And don't forget to dress appropriately and practice Leave No Trace principles when visiting this stunning Icelandic waterfall!
