Dyrhólaey, also known as "door hill island," is a small promontory on Iceland's south coast near the village of Vík. Once an island of volcanic origin, it now boasts the Dyrhólaey Lighthouse at its peak, offering stunning views of Mýrdalsjökull glacier to the north and Reynisdrangar lava columns to the east. Accessible via a newly paved road, Dyrhólaey is a popular spot for spotting nesting Atlantic puffins in the summer and even made history in 1993 when a plane flew through its iconic lava arch.
