If you are a fan of sandy beaches and crystal clear water then the Llyn Peninsula is for you…

We visited Porthor Beach (Whistling sands) on our winter beach trip last weekend and it reminded me just how beautiful the North Wales coast is. When the sun is shining I don’t think there’s anywhere I’d rather be.

The sand was too wet for us to hear the famous "whistling"- apparently if you shuffle your feet on the sand it will whistle.

Parking: National Trust (free for members) £2.50 all day

Food & Drink: there is a cafe on the beach but it was closed when we visited
