Llynnau Mymbyr is a pair of lakes nestled in the picturesque Dyffryn Mymbyr valley in Snowdonia, Wales. It's a hugely under-rated spot and most people visiting the area will drive right by it, but I think it is definitely worth your time.
This lake is great for wild swimming, paddle boarding and kayaking and is also the start of a few of my favourite walks. But if you prefer more a chilled lake day then you could try stopping in at Plas-y-brenin's pub and beer garden which has incredible views over the lake. Plas-y-brenin is also an activity centre, perfect for trying out some lake activities if you don't already have the kit to do so.
There are a few spots you can park up for this one, and there is also a ver relaxed farm campsite on the far side of the lake (see the Garth Campsite listing for more info)
Roadside Parking at Plas-y-brennin

This spot is great for accessing the little beaches at the far end of the lake - ideal for paddling, swimming or launching a paddleboard or kayak.
Layby on the lake
what3words location: ///ecologist.verge.divorcing
This large lay-by makes it easier to get you boards and kit out but the access to the lake is across some rocks (easily doable, but not as good for kids as the beaches)
This spot is also a breeding ground for adders, so please take care with small children and protect the area by leaving no trace.
