This lesser known quarry has a beautiful blue lagoon and a mesmerising abandoned village to explore.

Dorothea Quarry, located in the Nantlle Valley area of North Wales, is a disused slate quarry that operated from the early 1820s until its closure in 1970. Initially named Cloddfa Turner and later renamed Dorothea, the quarry was known for its deep vertical pits that produced slate. After closure, the quarry flooded creating a stunning blue lagoon. (not accesible)

The short trail around the quarry has so much to keep the kids busy, and incredible views over Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park
