🇧🇷 Castro Laboreiro foi uma das primeiras aldeias em Portugal que nos cativou profundamente. Uma das razões para isso talvez tenha sido a oportunidade que tivemos de pernoitar lá, o que nos proporcionou uma experiência mais autêntica do cotidiano local. Escolhemos o Miradouro do Castelo como nossa acomodação (nome bastante auspicioso, não acha?). Embora simples, essa hospedagem revelou-se surpreendentemente moderna por dentro. Optamos por um quarto pequeno, mas há também opções maiores disponíveis. O nome faz jus a vista, que é linda (pelo menos do quarto que dormimos). Eles também tem um bom restaurante, o que torna a estadia ainda melhor.

🇺🇸 Castro Laboreiro was one of the first villages in Portugal that deeply captivated us. One of the reasons for this might have been the opportunity we had to spend the night there, which provided us with a more authentic experience of local life. We chose Miradouro do Castelo as our accommodation (quite an auspicious name, don't you think?). Despite its simplicity, this lodging turned out to be surprisingly modern on the inside. We opted for a small room, but larger options are also available. The name lives up to the view, which is beautiful (at least from the room where we slept). They also have a good restaurant, which enhances the stay even more.

Quando botamos o pé nessa aldeia rústica, parece que rola uma conexão instantânea com a natureza e até com o nosso lado mais zen! Dê uma volta de boa pelas ruazinhas e casinhas de granito que já têm séculos de história. Certeza que você vai sentir na hora a autenticidade e o calor humano dessa aldeia. Saia um pouco pros arredores naturais de Castro Laboreiro e dê de cara com um cenário de tirar o fôlego. Curta o Castelo de Castro Laboreiro, passe pelo Núcleo Museológico e não esquece de passar na Ponte da Cava da Velha. Aqui, o tic-tac do relógio parece diminuir e a vida segue um ritmo mais tranquilo. Tire um tempinho pra sentar na sombra de uma árvore antiga, dê uma ouvida no trilado dos passarinhos e encha o peito com o ar puro da montanha. Se liga nas coisinhas simples e lindas da vida, que muitas vezes passam batidas no meio do corre-corre das cidades grandes...

🇺🇸 The village of Castro Laboreiro is a spot that won our hearts in Gerês. When we set foot in this rustic village, it's like an instant connection with nature and even with our more zen side! Take a leisurely stroll through the narrow streets and centuries-old granite houses. You'll instantly feel the authenticity and warmth of this village. Venture a bit into the natural surroundings of Castro Laboreiro and be greeted by a breathtaking scenery. Enjoy the Castro Laboreiro Castle, stop by the Museological Center, and don't forget to visit the Cava da Velha Bridge. Here, the tick-tock of the clock seems to slow down and life follows a more tranquil rhythm. Take a moment to sit in the shade of an ancient tree, listen to the birds' melodies, and breathe in the pure mountain air. Pay attention to the simple and beautiful things in life, which often go unnoticed amidst the hustle and bustle of big cities...

🇧🇷 Visitar santuários de Portugal não precisa ser necessariamente para pessoas religiosas. Em geral, esses templos ficam em locais que facilitam a vida contemplativa, em meio a natureza e a montanhas. Talvez o Santuário de Nossa Senhora da Peneda seja um dos que mais apreciamos de visitar. E isso não é por acaso. Fica dentro do Parque Nacional Peneda Gerês, único parque nacional do País (os outros são naturais). Isso faz com que o santuário esteja em um lugar realmente especial, como por exemplo uma bela cascata nas montanhas bem atrás do santuário (que pode ser mais ou menos visível a depender se é tempo de seca ou não). Tem uma bela bela igreja localizada nas montanhas e tem sido um icônico local de peregrinação desde a Idade Média. Para quem for visitar o Parque, é com certeza uma visita obrigatória.

🇺🇸 Visiting sanctuaries in Portugal doesn't necessarily have to be for religious individuals. Generally, these temples are situated in locations that facilitate contemplative living, amidst nature and mountains. Perhaps the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora da Peneda is one of the ones we most enjoyed visiting. And this isn't by chance. It is located within the Peneda-Gerês National Park, the country's only national park (the others are natural parks). This places the sanctuary in a truly special setting, such as a beautiful waterfall in the mountains just behind the sanctuary (which may be more or less visible depending on whether it's a dry season or not). It houses a beautiful church located in the mountains and has been an iconic pilgrimage site since the Middle Ages. For those visiting the Park, it's undoubtedly a must-see destination.

🇧🇷 Arcos de Valdevez fica em uma região lindíssima que nós particularmente adoramos: o Alto Minho. Parte do município fica dentro do Parque Nacional do Peneda Gerês, o que já indica que aqui tem muito de natureza para ver. Mas quem visita o município também pode aproveitar para conhecer um monumento de características únicas em Portugal. O Paço de Giela foi construído na primeira metade do século XIV, apesar de já haver vestígios de uma construção ainda no século X. O monumento agora está aberto ao público como uma atração cultural e turística. Possui um museu arqueológico, uma capela construída no século XVI e uma vista deslumbrante do vale abaixo a partir de suas muralhas. Além de contar a história de um dos momentos marcantes da história portuguesa, o Recontro de Valdevez, há diversas atividades programadas ao longo do ano.

🇺🇸 Arcos de Valdevez is located in a stunning region that we particularly love: Alto Minho. Part of the municipality lies within the Peneda-Gerês National Park, which already indicates that there is plenty of nature to see here. However, visitors to the municipality can also take the opportunity to explore a monument with unique characteristics in Portugal. The Paço de Giela was built in the first half of the 14th century, although there are traces of an even earlier construction from the 10th century. The monument is now open to the public as a cultural and tourist attraction. It features an archaeological museum, a chapel built in the 16th century, and a breathtaking view of the valley below from its walls. In addition to recounting the story of one of the significant moments in Portuguese history, the Battle of Valdevez, there are various activities scheduled throughout the year

🇧🇷 Arcos de Valdevez é um município realmente encantador para se hospedar. A região oferece muitas atrações interessantes ao seu redor. Sempre que possível, optamos por acomodações rurais. A Quinta Lamosa é um desses lugares onde nos hospedamos e adoramos. São diversas casinhas incrivelmente charmosas (ficamos na casa da árvore), situadas em um ambiente natural maravilhoso. A Quinta está a apenas 10 minutos do centro de Arcos de Valdevez, e também é próxima ao Parque Nacional da Peneda-Gerês, ideal para quem deseja explorar essa região. Embora o café da manhã seja cobrado à parte, a possibilidade de desfrutar nas casinhas acrescenta um toque acolhedor à estadia.

🇺🇸 Arcos de Valdevez is a really charming municipality to stay in. The area offers many interesting attractions around it. Whenever possible, we prefer rural accommodations. Quinta Lamosa is one of those places where we stayed and loved. There are several incredibly charming cottages (we stayed in the treehouse) set in a wonderful natural environment. The Quinta is just 10 minutes away from the center of Arcos de Valdevez, and it's also close to Peneda-Gerês National Park, perfect for those who want to explore that region. Although breakfast is charged separately, the option to enjoy it in the cottages adds a cozy touch to the stay.

🇧🇷 Se estiver pelo Parque Nacional da Peneda-Gerês e quiser visitar uma aldeia, Lindoso é uma ótima pedida. Esta a apenas 4 km da fronteira espanhola. Tem um Castelo do século XIII, de onde se pode avistar 50 espigueiros (estruturas para armazenar cereais) de granito construídos nos séculos XVII e XVIII que dão um charme super especial. Os amantes da natureza podem explorar trilhas ao redor da vila em meio a incríveis vistas da montanha.

🇺🇸If you're in the Peneda-Gerês National Park and want to visit a village, Lindoso is a great choice. It's just 4 km away from the Spanish border. There's a 13th-century Castle there, from where you can spot around 50 granite espigueiros (structures for storing cereals) built in the 17th and 18th centuries that give a super special charm. Nature lovers can explore trails around the village amidst incredible mountain views.

🇧🇷 O Miradouro da Pedra Bela é um miradouro espetacular situado a leste da Vila do Gerês, no coração do Parque Nacional da Peneda-Gerês. É possível ver o Rio Cávado de um lado e as montanhas de outro. O estacionamento fica a alguns metros do Miradouro. A vista fica bem em cima de uma pedra, dando uma composição perfeita ao cenário. Tente pegar o pôr-do-sol com essa vista incrível. Procure um cantinho, fique admirando a paisagem, sinta-se agradecido e privilegiado por estar dando este momento mágico para você!❤️

🇺🇸 The Pedra Bela Viewpoint is a breathtaking lookout situated to the east of Gerês Village, nestled in the heart of Peneda-Gerês National Park. From here, you can take in views of the Cávado River on one side and the majestic mountains on the other. The parking area is just a few meters away from the viewpoint, and the panoramic sight is perched atop a rock, providing an ideal composition for the picturesque setting.

Find a corner, admire the landscape, feel grateful and privileged for giving yourself this magical moment!❤️

🇧🇷 A Cascata do Arado é uma cascata incrível localizada no Parque Nacional da Peneda-Gerês. Com uma vista deslumbrante para o Rio Arado, é um ótimo local para apreciar a beleza da natureza. É possível chegar de carro bem pertinho, porém, o último quilómetro é feito por um caminho em terra batida até à ponte sobre o rio Arado. Chegando lá, suba os degraus em pedra, que dá uns 150 metros até um pequeno miradouro no topo que tem uma vista fantástica da cascata. Não tente tomar um banho na cascata, Miradeir@s, é desaconcelhável porque é suscetível de ocorrer acidentes graves lá.

Se aparecer uns cavalos por aí não se assuste, eles costumam ser mansos. São os cavalos Garranos, espécie do Gerês, são selvagens e muito bonitos.

🇺🇸 The Cascata do Arado is an amazing waterfall located in Peneda-Gerês National Park. With a breathtaking view of the Arado River, it's a great spot to soak in the beauty of nature. You can drive pretty close by, but the last kilometer is on a dirt road until you reach the bridge over the Arado River. Once you're there, climb the stone steps, which is about 150 meters up to a small lookout at the top that has a fantastic view of the waterfall. Don't try to take a dip in the waterfall, Miradeir@s; it's not recommended as there could be serious accidents there.

If some horses appear around, don't be alarmed; they tend to be gentle. They are Garrano horses, a breed from Gerês, wild and very beautiful.

🇧🇷 A Ponte da Misarela, também conhecida como a 'Ponte do Diabo' situada em Montalegre, é uma bela ponte medieval que atravessa o Rio Rabagão. Tem um arco com mais de 10 metros que fica nas escarpas de granito. Segundo a lenda local, a estrutura foi criada pelo próprio diabo para ajudar um bandido em fuga a atravessar o rio próximo. O homem fez uma barganha com o diabo e concordou em construir uma ponte se recebesse sua alma em troca. Felizmente para o homem desesperado, um padre sábio interrompeu o negócio expulsando o demônio com seu santo Rosário e transformando a ponte em uma estrutura permanente. A Ponte da Misarela fica ainda mais magnífica quando a água da cascata está mais forte (outono, inverno). Iniciando a trilha pelo lado de Vieira do Minho (há um bolsão para deixar o carro perto), são 800m de caminhada.

🇺🇸 Ponte da Misarela, also known as the 'Devil's Bridge,' located in Montalegre, is a stunning medieval bridge that stretches across the Rabagão River. It boasts an arch spanning over 10 meters, perched upon the granite cliffs. According to local legend, the structure was crafted by the devil himself to aid a fleeing bandit in crossing the nearby river. The man struck a deal with the devil, agreeing to construct a bridge in exchange for his soul. Fortunately for the desperate man, a wise priest intervened, banishing the demon with his holy Rosary and transforming the bridge into a permanent structure. The Misarela Bridge becomes even more magnificent when the waterfall's water flow is stronger (fall, winter). Beginning the trail from the Vieira do Minho side (there is a parking area to leave the car nearby), it's a 800m walk.

🇧🇷 A Quinta da Mouta é um encantador alojamento rural situado em uma simpática aldeia em Vieira do Minho. Sua localização próxima ao Parque Nacional da Peneda-Gerês faz dela uma excelente escolha para quem busca aventuras durante o dia e um refúgio tranquilo para relaxar depois. Apesar do ambiente rural, os quartos apresentam uma decoração moderna (nosso quarto até tinha uma banheira!). Com uma piscina para os dias quentes e um café da manhã servido em um espaço incrível com vista para os jardins, a experiência é completa.

🇺🇸 Quinta da Mouta is a delightful rural accommodation located in a charming village in Vieira do Minho. Its proximity to Peneda-Gerês National Park makes it a perfect choice for those seeking daytime adventures and a peaceful retreat to relax afterward. Despite the rural setting, the room decor is more modern (our room even had a bathtub!). With a pool for hot days and a breakfast served in an incredible space with views of the gardens, the experience is truly comprehensive.
