One of my favorite experiences on Teshima, Heartbeat Archive is a unique and moving art experience. Inside this small, minimalist building, you can listen to a vast collection of human heartbeats from around the world, each one pulsing in sync with a single flickering light in a dark, intimate room. It’s a powerful and strangely personal encounter. For a small fee, you can even add your own heartbeat to the permanent collection. The museum is a gentle 15-minute walk through the town and across the beach from Karato Port, where the Teshima bus makes its last stop, making for a peaceful stroll before and after your visit.
