Discover a tranquil space where art, architecture, and nature become one. Tucked into a quiet valley overlooking the sea, this museum is a stunning collaboration between artist Lee Ufan and architect Tadao Ando. The first time I visited, I only did it because I had some free time, and it ended up being my favorite gallery on Naoshima. You'll wander through serene, partially subterranean concrete structures that perfectly frame large-scale installations of stone and iron, which are Lee Ufan's claim to fame, as well as lesser known paintings. It's a deeply meditative experience where photography isn't allowed, encouraging quiet reflection and allowing you to feel the powerful dialogue between the man-made and the natural world.
