Tucked away in the mountains, you'll find the Izumidani rice terraces, celebrated as one of the 100 best in all of Japan. Getting here is part of the adventure, as you'll navigate a very narrow, steep road that winds up the mountainside. Once you arrive, the view of 95 paddies cascading down the steep slope is breathtaking, offering a different kind of beauty with each season—from watery mirrors in spring to a sea of gold in late summer. There's a small observation area with parking, but the best experience comes from a short walk along the road to fully appreciate this masterpiece of traditional farming.
