Right as you step off the ferry at Miyanoura Port, you'll be greeted by a giant, playful Red Pumpkin, one of our island's most beloved icons. Created by the famous artist Yayoi Kusama, its bright red color and black polka dots make for a fantastic photo against the sea. Unlike its yellow cousin on the other side of the island, there's rarely crowds (unless a ferry has just arrived) and you can actually step inside this one, letting you see the port scenery framed by Kusama's whimsical patterns. If you stay on Naoshima overnight, make sure to come after dark.
