This scenic route connects Los Quetzales National Park with Santa María de Dota and takes you deep into the mountains and cloud forest. The road is accessible for most vehicles if you drive carefully.

The drive from the park entrance to Santa María takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes, so it’s best to do it during the day. A great plan is to have lunch in San Gerardo de Dota and then return along this route, stopping in Santa María to enjoy a delicious cup of coffee.

You don’t need to enter the National Park to take this route. Simply continue along the road located right next to the park entrance.
