Puerto Princesa is often treated as just an entry or exit point in Palawan, but it has some real gems. It’s home to the world-famous Underground River (UNESCO site), one of the new 7 wonders of nature, and makes a great spot to slow down before or after busy travel days.

Things to do:

  • Take a boat tour of the Puerto Princesa Underground River (half-day activity, must book in advance).

  • Stroll the baywalk in the evening for street food and sunset views.

  • Visit local markets for fresh coconuts, souvenirs, and casual eats.

  • Try local cafés and vegetarian-friendly spots (there’s a growing food scene here).

Laid-back city with a mix of locals, travellers, and expats. Less about crazy nightlife, more about slow travel and cultural feel. A nice balance between urban convenience and natural escapes.
2 days are ideal, enough to cover the Underground River, relax, and explore the town without rushing.

How to reach?

  • From El Nido → 5–6 hrs by van or bus. (Bus is cheaper than the Van)

  • From Port Barton → 3.5–4 hrs by van.

  • It also has an airport with flights to Manila, Cebu, and other domestic destinations.
