Landscape photography is my retirement avocation and I've enjoyed following Adam's photography via his YouTube channel. I've recently moved to Vancouver Island. One of my challenges is to find new, interesting places to photograph. Vancouver Island has many of them; I need something to point me to be places that are accessible and good candidates. I was delighted to find a link to Adam's Rexby pub from his website.
I think his Vancouver Island guide is written in just about the right level of detail; it points to a location, provides a brief description of what you can find, and provides information on when to visit, directions and where to park. He does not go so far as to tell you where to plant your tripod legs. Each photographer needs to visit, absorb and figure out what they find compelling and want to capture with their camera: as it should be.
The advantage of this style of presentation is that it provides a guide that is useful to anyone seeking to explore and enjoy the fabulous natural scene on Vancouver Island.
Highly recommended.

Vancouver Island is one of my happy places. I’ve kayaked in the north, hiked in San Josef, Ucluelet, Port Renfrew, Eden Grove and many other locations and I still found Adam’s map and guide incredibly useful. His images are of course wonderful captures of the spirit of each place, and the timely information is priceless. I had planned to visit Avatar Grove near Port Renfrew this spring but was saved the disappointment and cost of discovering that Avatar is closed, which I only became aware of through Adam’s comments in the guide. Overall I’ve gotten great pleasure virtually touring through the map and planning my next trip to my happy place. Thank you Adam for all of your work and passion that goes into making and keeping it up to date.

This guide was invaluable in helping me figure out my itinerary. Since I did a lot of camping during my days on the island, I appreciated Adams commentary on campgrounds and where to stay.
Given that cell service is sparse in the remote parts of Vancouver Island, it was fabulous that the guide was fully accessible off-line once I downloaded it. Pairing Adam’s suggestions on what to see with GaiaGPS offline maps to plot how to get there made navigation pretty easy.

I made good use of this guide on a recent trip to the southern tip of Vancouver Island. It provided sufficient details to find key locations and it will be my goto source for when I return to the island next year.

If you're a fan of Adam Gibbs, an avid landscape / nature photographer, or just someone who's looking for scenic and different Vancouver Island experience, this guide will be an excellent planning tool.
Before my first trip to VI, my trip-planning included long and fruitless video watching, reading tourist-centric websites (top 10, etc.) that do nothing but regurgitate the same info, and looking at many unrelated "influencer" type photos on social media. The most reliable sources were Adam's YouTube videos, where I found many of my final choices. But again, it took a long time to review his vast collection of videos.
But now, Adam has put all of his beautiful spots here in one place! Every spot is clearly marked with maps, photos, and a link to his videos. My second trip to the island was so much less stressful and every spot lived up to its potential, and then some. I highly recommend getting this, especially since he'll continually update the list as he visits new places. 😎

I have followed Adam Gibbs on YouTube for years and I find his content to be truly excellent. I bought this guide to help prepare for an upcoming trip to Vancouver Island. I have benefitted from other guides on trips throughout western North America but this will be my first trip to Vancouver Island. Normally, I would not write a review before directly assessing the quality of the information (I will follow this review with another after my return from the trip) but in this case the information is so helpful with planning that I have already found it invaluable. And, many of the locations are included in his YouTube channel, which provides more details, so I feel confident in my choices. More upon my return...
