Grewingk Glacier
Hike

Directions

Located across Kachemak Bay from Homer, if you want to visit this glacier you'll need to take a water taxi to the trailhead and then hike in. There are multiple hikes that bring you to the Grewingk Glacier Lake, I recommend taking the Saddle Trail since it's shorter (but steeper). Once there, if it's a nice weather day you can enjoy the epic views and have a picnic - and if you have your own kayak or canoe you carried in you can paddle closer to the glacier to get a better view. In the winter months, we've been told you can ice skate here as well, but we haven't done this ourselves yet. (Always make sure to check the ice thickness before you head out.) Watch our adventure to Grewingk Glacier here!
