Get ready for a challenging but incredibly rewarding day on the North River Falls Trail. This 18-kilometer (11-mile) round-trip hike will take you deep into the Cape Breton Highlands to witness the province's highest waterfall. The trail follows an old Scottish settler road through beautiful forests and requires a couple of river crossings, so be prepared to get your feet wet. Due to storm damage and washouts, the path can be rugged and is best suited for experienced hikers, but the stunning 105-foot cascade at the end is a sight you won't soon forget.
