Directions

Skaftafellsjökull was one of the most impressive glaciers we visited in Iceland. Located within Vatnajökull National Park, this glacier tongue extends from Europe's largest ice cap and offers incredible views of ice formations, rugged mountains, and dramatic landscapes.

The hike to the viewpoint is relatively easy and rewards you with a close look at the glacier and its constantly changing shapes and textures. Standing in front of such a massive body of ice is a powerful reminder of Iceland's raw natural beauty.

Whether you're exploring the area on foot or simply enjoying the views, Skaftafellsjökull is a must-visit stop along Iceland's South Coast.
