The Arizona Cactus Garden, tucked away on the Stanford University campus in California, is a hidden gem bursting with over 500 species of succulents and cacti from around the world. Originally built in the 1880s for the Stanfords, it fell into disrepair after WWII but was lovingly restored in the late 1990s. Despite its off-the-beaten-path location, this quirky garden remains a cool spot to wander through and get lost among some seriously spiky plants.

Photo tips: The garden looks great in the early morning or late afternoon when the light creates beautiful shadows on the cacti..

Good to know: Parking is free and available nearby
