Switzerland is home to some of the most breathtaking natural landscapes and Engstligenfälle in Adelboden is one of its most stunning hidden gems.

Engstligenfälle is a magnificent waterfall that cascades down from a height of over 600 meters, making it one of the highest waterfalls in Switzerland. As you approach the falls, you are immediately struck by the sheer power and beauty of the water as it tumbles down the cliffside. The sound of the rushing water, combined with the fresh mountain air, creates an exhilarating experience.

🥾How to get there:

The trail leading to the falls is one of the most scenic hikes I've done in Switzerland. Starting in the village of Adelboden, the trail is clearly marked and easy to follow. The first part of the trail takes you through alpine meadows and forests. The hike is about 1.5 hours and the route gradually ascends, providing panoramic views of the valley below and the towering peaks of the Swiss Alps. The path is mostly well-maintained, and while it’s considered a moderate hike, it’s suitable for hikers of most fitness levels. As you approach Engstligenfälle, the sound of rushing water will become louder, building up to the awe-inspiring moment when you first lay eyes on the falls.

📸There are several viewpoints around the falls, each offering a unique perspective of the waterfall. One of my favourite spots was a platform near the base of the falls, where I could feel the cool mist on my face as I watched the water tumble down the rocks. The sight of the water crashing into the pool below was nothing short of mesmerising. Definitely check it out!

After your hike:

🍽️Gasthof Steinbock:

Situated in the heart of Adelboden, Gasthof Steinbock is a traditional Swiss inn that serves delicious Swiss cuisine in a rustic setting. The restaurant is known for its friendly service and offers a range of dishes, from local specialties like Älplermagronen (Swiss alpine macaroni). It's a great spot to enjoy a warm, satisfying meal after a day of hiking.
