Considered the oldest Buddhist temple in Japan, and one of the oldest wooden buildings in the world. Founded in the 7th century by Prince Shōtoku, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temple complex houses national treasures, ancient statues, and an iconic five-story pagoda.

Entrance fee: ¥1,500 (full access to the site).
Touristy? Fairly touristy. A must-visit for those interested in Japanese history and culture.

📍 How to get there:
🚆 From Nara, take the JR Yamatoji Line to Horyu-ji Station (~12 min, ¥220).
🚶 About 10 minutes on foot from the station.
