Historic Shinto shrine located in Bunkyō, Tokyo. Founded over 1,900 years ago, it’s known for its tunnel of red torii gates (reminiscent of Kyoto’s Fushimi Inari), and its Gongen-zukuri style buildings, designated as Important Cultural Properties. The grounds are serene, with a beautiful garden that changes with the seasons. In April, the site becomes lively during the Tsutsuji Matsuri (Azalea Festival), showcasing over 3,000 blooming azalea bushes.

Touristy? : Moderately touristy. Very popular in April, but quiet the rest of the year.
