Rinnō-ji is the center of Buddhism in Nikkō and the first temple ever built in the area. It dates back to the 8th century, founded by the monk Shōdō Shōnin, who introduced Buddhist worship to the mountains of Nikkō.
The main hall, Sanbutsudō, houses three large gold-lacquered statues representing the deities of Nikkō’s sacred mountains. The complex also includes treasure halls, gardens, and small sub-temples you can walk through.

Price: ¥400–¥900 depending on the building
