Chion-ji Temple is a Jōdo school Buddhist temple located near Kyoto University. It’s best known for its large monthly craft market, Tezukuri Ichi, held on the 15th of every month, which draws numerous artisans and visitors. Outside of market days, the temple is quiet and peaceful, featuring simple architecture and a local neighborhood vibe.

🎯 Touristy? Not very touristy except during the market. Mostly frequented by locals and fans of handmade goods.
