Atmospheric mossy temple with Zen sand art and a peaceful forest setting. Free, quiet, and artistic. My personal favorite.

It's a peaceful, hidden temple tucked away in lush greenery near the Philosopher’s Path. Known for its two white sand mounds at the entrance—symbols of spiritual purification—it offers a tranquil moss-covered garden, ancient trees, and a calm, contemplative atmosphere. The temple also hosts temporary art exhibitions inside its buildings.

💴 Entrance fee: Free for the garden. Around 500 ¥ for special exhibitions.
🎯 Touristy? Not very touristy, except during autumn foliage season. A perfect quiet stop for those seeking serenity and hidden gems.
