Major Buddhist temple of the Jōdo school, located at the base of Tokyo Tower in the Shiba district. Founded in the 14th century, it served as the family temple of the Tokugawa clan. The site features several restored buildings, the original impressive gate (Sangedatsumon), and the graves of six Tokugawa shoguns. It blends spirituality and history, offering a peaceful atmosphere despite its central city location. The temple is also known for its rows of small Jizō statues dressed in red hats, dedicated to lost or unborn children.
